DETERMINING THE RIGHT COMBINATION OF COLORS FOR YOUR SKIN TONE

This is really not as difficult as it may seem.

Pigment Concentrates - Matching Skin Tone

Human skin contains four types of pigment;

  • MELANIN is the dark pigment and causes the skin to become darker as it tans. The cells that produce melanin are called melanocytes and are the same in all races.

  • HAEMOGLOBIN is the pigment that gives red cells their colour. Haemoglobin oxygenated produces a healthy colour in the skin. When haemoglobin is lacking of oxygen, the skin takes on pale blush colour.

  • CAROTENS are pigments that gives yellow tone to the skin. A yellow cast can also be caused by eating too much foods that are yellow or orange colour- such as oranges or carrots.

  • ALBINISM is a condition resulting from lack of melanin. There is a lack of colour in skin, hair, eyes. Haemoglobin shows as pink in the eyes and other part of the body.

All skin tones may be achieved my mixing three basic colors together:

  • Red
  • Black
  • Yellow
  • White is your foundation base

   Your foundation should make your skin look as smooth and clear as possible, provide coverage and even out tone. You should always match your skin tone as closely as possible. Do no try to adjust your skin tone by using a different color foundation that does not match your skin tone.

If you have a color that you have bought that you like, have it with you when blending so you can match it.

You will need to grind well the pigments in a coffee grinder to achieve true color that will apply without streaking.

We will use a very small amounts of this pigments mix to create your foundation, they are very concentrated.

Remember, the pigments are very concentrate, for not ruining your color, use just a tiny, tiny pinch at a time to adjust.
